What is Vaginoplasty
Everyone's different
Vaginas come in all shapes and sizes, and whilst we should embrace our vaginas sometimes reconstructive plastic surgery procedures are needed for correcting some defects and deformities – this is known as Vaginoplasty.
Vagionoplasty is a general term that embraces surgical correction to the vagina and surrounding tissue. Vaginal Agenesis (absence of the vagina) or Vaginal Shortening can be caused by either congenital reasons or pelvic surgery and hysterectomy. It can mean that sexual intercourse is impossible or really painful. Post-operative outcomes of Vaginoplasty are variable; it usually allows penetration through sexual intercourse but sensation might not always be present.
Neovaginoplasty describes the surgical procedures of either partial or total construction or reconstruction of the vulvovaginal area.
Popular Vagionoplasty procedures
Balloon Vaginoplasty is a new technique for treating congenital defects; it is technically simple, physically safe, and medically effective alternative for creating a new vagina.
Colovaginoplasty is when a vagina is created from part of the colon (sigmoid colon). With a high level of potential complications this procedure is only offered when there is no alternative procedure.
