Symphysiotomies involved breaking the woman’s pelvis during childbirth - using a hacksaw. This break would enable the pelvis to be stretched wider - with disastrous consequences for the mothers. Survivors of Symphysiotomy (SOS) are a group of women campaigning for recognition of their suffering and disability through this procedure - they live in constant pain, walk with a permanent limp, suffer chronic back pain and incontinence.

Halloween Come Dine With Me - Knicker Wetting TV Action from Nicola McLean
Thursday, 1 November 2012 11:03:44 Europe/London
Trick or Treat? Someone tell that girl that wetting yourself on TV when you laugh is not 'normal' and actually it’s a sign of a weak pelvic floor. Of course wetting yourself when you laugh also means less intimate sensation too (both for the woman and her partner) - so that’s certainly not glamorous. We've tweeted Nicola and offered her a Kegel8 Ultra so she can get back in shape and control her light adult incontinence then she can be as 'tight and toned' inside as she looks outside!
