CIN Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia

CIN refers to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. It is the growth of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix. CIN is graded in numbers from 1 to 3 and these classifications are used to describe how much of the cervical tissue is involved and how abnormal the cells are.

CIN 1

Also known as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, CIN 1 is a condition in which slightly abnormal cells grow on the cervix. The growth of cells forms a thin layer of tissue and is not malignant (cancerous) but may become cancer. If you have CIN your Doctor or Specialist will want to check your cervix regularly for any changes in the cells.

CIN 2

Also known as cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia 2. It is described as moderately abnormal cells that grow as a thin layer of tissue covering the cervix. These abnormal cells are not malignant but may become cancerous.

CIN 3

Also known as Stage 0 Cervical Carcinoma in situ and/or Cervical Squamous Intraepithelial Neoplasia 3. Abnormal cells are found in the inner lining of the cervix (cervical epithelium) These abnormal cells may become cancer and can spread into nearby normal tissue.

Can I use a Kegel8 Electronic Pelvic Toner if I Have CIN?

Yes, you can use electronic muscle stimulation if you have CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia), however you must keep a regular check with your Health provider for any changes with the cells.

The use of Electronic Muscle Stimulation is contra indicated (i.e. it is inadvisable to use) if you have been diagnosed with Pelvic Cancer. The reason it is contra indicated for anyone suffering with pelvic cancer is that cancer cells multiply under different influences and it is not known if electrical muscle stimulation may cause multiplication of the cancer cells. There are no retrospective studies in humans so for that reason it is contraindicated.
