Prolapse

What is Prolapse?

Prolapse is also known as Pelvic Organ Prolapse or POP is a condition in which a pelvic organ has lost its normal support (by muscles and ligaments) and is falling into or out of the vagina. A weak pelvic floor can result in pelvic organ prolapse as the organs fall out of position. More than one pelvic organ can prolapse at the same time and a prolapse is measured or 'Graded' in severity. Hysterectomy cannot stop further prolpase and can actually cause further prolapse.

  • A lump in your vagina or outside your vagina that you can feel with your fingers or see.
  • Constipation and having difficulty in emptying your bowel together with increased wiping and appearance of 'skid marks' even when you thought you were clean.
  • Pain during intercourse, reduced intimate sensation difficulty reaching orgasm.
  • Urinary problems such as a slow stream, incomplete bladder emptying, urinary frequency (or overactive bladder) or an urgent need to pass urine, and stress incontinence.

Can Kegel8 Pelvic Toners Help With Prolapse?

Yes, a Kegel8 Electronic Pelvic Toner will help to strengthen the muscles of your pelvic floor but more importantly it could prevent your prolapse from getting worse. Whats more, the need to do pelvic floor exercise is imperative because you need to prevent further pelvic organs from prolapsing - remember once they are prolpased there is little you can do other than 'contain' the problem or have surgery. What is also important to know is that if you have a cystocele (bladder prolpase) you are then more prone to a rectocele (rectal prolapse) so pelvic floor exercise is imperative.

If you have pelvic floor surgery for prolpase a Kegel8 will help both with your rehabilitation post surgery and improve the surgical outcomes of your procedure.
