Prolapse

Prolapse refers to the displacement or sinking of an organ from its normal position within the body. It can occur when the supporting structures that hold an organ in place become weakened or damaged. Prolapse can affect various organs, but it is commonly associated with pelvic organ prolapse, where organs in the pelvic region, such as the uterus, bladder, rectum, or vaginal walls, descend or protrude into the vagina due to weakened pelvic floor muscles and connective tissues. Types of prolapse for women include; Uterine Prolapse, Cystocele (Anterior Wall Prolapse or Front Wall Prolapse), Rectocele (Posterior Wall Prolapse or Back Wall Prolapse), Enterocele, Vaginal Vault Prolapse and Perineal Prolapse. Men can suffer with rectal prolapse, bladder prolapse (Cystocele) and Enterocele.
