Adenomyoma

Formed from endometrial tissue, this abnormal growth can start deep within the uterine walls. It is composed of cells that normally form the inside lining of the uterus but instead have started to spontaneously grow within the muscle tissue lining. An adenomyoma is not cancerous and quite often it does not cause any symptoms. If the adenomyoma is especially large this may cause discomfort, tenderness, and increase bleeding during menstrual periods.
