Hypersensitive Bladder Syndrome

In 1999 the International Continence Society (ICS) defined Bladder Hypersensitivity as a 'urodynamic diagnosis characterised by an early first desire to void (often at bladder volume 50ml) that persists and becomes annoying to the patient. The patient does not fear leakage, and has no pain associated with the symptom... As the sensation grows the functional capacity usually reduces to below 250ml.'

In 2002 the ICS reported that the term bladder hypersensitivity was no longer used and instead the seeming equivalent 'increased bladder sensation' replaced it. .

Bladder Hypersensitivity is now known as Increased Bladder Sensation.
