Getting Started With the Kegel8 Ultra 20 Electronic Pelvic Toner

Important update to the video: Please note, the vaginal probe should only be inserted approximately 2 inches into your vagina. Ensure the base and wires remain outside of your body during use. If you have a prolapse, it is often easier to insert the probe when you are lying on your back with a pillow under your bum or lower back. In this position the prolapse will not be putting pressure on the probe and it is therefore easier to insert. To learn more about using a vaginal probe, watch the video Getting Started With the Kegel8 Glide Gold Vaginal Probe.

  1. Insert the 9 Volt battery - Remove the back cover of the Kegel8® Ultra 20. Take one the 9-volt battery (one has been included with your device), and remove the black battery cap. Insert the battery into the device and replace the back cover
  2. Prepare Your Probe - Wash your probe in warm, soapy water. Then rinse and dry thoroughly. Alternatively, you could clean your probe with a gentle antibacterial cleanser like our own Kegel8® Klean Cleaning Spray.
  3. Connect the Probe to the Kegel8® Ultra 20 Device - Insert the lead wire into Channel A at the top left of the Kegel8® Ultra 20 device and connect your probe to the lead wire connectors. Turn On Your Kegel8® Ultra 20 - Press the on/off button once to turn on your device.
  4. Insert Your Kegel8® Vaginal Probe- Apply a small amount of water-based lubricant, such as Kegel8 KE GEL Kegel Exercise Lubricant, on the metal parts of the probe. Insert the probe into your vagina, with the metal sides facing “hip-to-hip”. Avoid placing the probe too deeply, the tip should be inserted no further than 2 inches (5.5 cm) into your vagina. Watch the quick video below for more information on using the Kegel8 Glide Gold Vaginal Probe.
  5. Select a Programme - Choose an exercise programme by pressing the PRG button until the screen shows the programme you wish to use. If it's your first time using the Kegel8 Ultra 20, select P01 Sensitivity Test.
  6. Press the A+ button on the left hand side to start your programme and increase the current intensity (displayed as mA = milliamps). If the sensation is too strong, you can decrease it by pushing the A- button. The amount of current needed to stimulate pelvic floor muscles varies from person to person. Starting from 0 mAs, you should increase the mA power to a level where you can feel the effects of the electrical pulse without it causing any discomfort. You should feel the machine giving your muscles a strong pull, but not so that it is uncomfortable. The machine will switch off when the programme is complete.

Sensitivity Testing

P01 Sensation Test - Use this programme to test that you can feel the current safely. Use the + button on the same side as you are plugged in to the machine to turn up the current (measured in mA). If you can feel a sensation (usually a warm tickling) from the internal probe below 50mA progress to the second sensation test P02. If you cannot feel a tickling sensation below 50mA it can be a sign of nerve damage or difficulty conducting messages. This is quite common after childbirth or surgery. Use P01 as your treatment programme to help the nerves recover, at 50mA (or less), once a day for 4 weeks before progressing onto P02. If you cannot feel sensation returning after 1 month of use please consult a medical professional for advice.

P02 - Sensation Test 2 - This second test introduces new frequencies. If you can feel a sensation from the internal probe below 50mA, progress to one of the Kegel8 treatment programmes (P03-P20).If you cannot feel a sensation below 50mA it can be a sign of nerve damage. Use P02 at 50mA once a day for a further 4 weeks. If you do not feel sensation returning contact your doctor or physiotherapist for advice

Getting Started With the Skin Electrode Pads

The electrode pads that came with your device can be used for a variety of kegel8® Ultra 20 programmes. When using 2 pads (alone or with an internal electrode), simply connect a lead wire to a pair of electrode pads and insert the other end of the lead wire into Channel B at the top right of your device. Use Channel B controls to change the intensity of the current through the pads. If you are using skin electrodes you will not need to turn up the current very far to feel a sensation. When using 4 pads, use 2 lead wires, with one in Channel A and one in Channel B. Use the corresponding controls to turn up the intensity of the current through each pair of pads individually. They do not have to be the same intensity.

If you wish to use the skin electrode pads that come with your Kegel8 Ultra 20 Electronic Pelvic Toner, you do not need to run the P01 Sensitivity Test. The electrode pads work by conducting electrical pulses from the toner, stimulating the muscles and nerve fibres that reach into your pelvic area.

To stimulate the tibial nerve, place your electrode pads on the inside of one of your ankles and insert the lead wire into channel B at the top right of the Kegel8 Ultra 20 Electronic Pelvic Toner. To stimulate the sacral nerve, place your electrode pads on your lower back. Watch the videos below for more information.

Take care when increasing the power to your electrode pads as your skin is sensitive. We recommend that you do not increase the power above 15mA, as a power higher than this could cause physical harm (skin burns). Power greater than 15mA could also cause damage to your electrode pads.

If you wish to use a vaginal probe and skin electrode pads at the same time, please be aware that channel A, with the vaginal probe connected, will need a much higher amount of power (usually 30mA or more).

Follow the easy exercise plan to get results in 12 weeks!

Specialist pelvic floor and women’s health physiotherapist, Amanda Savage, has created an easy exercise plan to get results in just 12 weeks! This Kegel8 Ultra 20 condition guide has been developed to ensure more effective pelvic floor exercise, whether training with or without the device. Indeed, it encourages the user to practise contracting their muscles along with the machine to prepare for ‘real life’ scenarios where they don’t have access to the machine. In addition, the skills learned when using the device can improve independent pelvic floor exercises by helping the brain to correctly identify the location of the pelvic floor muscles, as well as improving the user’s ability to ‘hold’ a contraction. The unique combination of programmes has been carefully selected by Amanda Savage to ensure optimum treatment for and protection against a variety of different issues, including bladder weakness, stress incontinence, prolapse, loss of bowel control, lack of intimate sensation and more. In addition, it has been shown to calm the nerves responsible for a sensitive bladder. View the More Effective Pelvic Exercise Condition Guide now.

Specialist pelvic floor and women’s health physiotherapist, Amanda Savage, has created an easy exercise plan to get results in just 12 weeks! This Kegel8 Ultra 20 condition guide has been developed using the optimum combination of programmes to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles that support the vagina for increased intimate sensation. The routine alternates between settings, first using a programme to make the muscle fibres repeatedly contract and release, which encourages the muscle fibres to grow. On another setting the muscles don’t contract but the stimulation triggers nerve activity and increased blood flow - this is a good time to relax and “tune in” to the sensations received the vagina area and become more body aware again. The programme will strengthen, tighten and tone the muscles, as well as increase blood flow for increased vaginal sensation so that you can get back that spark with your partner. Specialist pelvic floor and women’s health physiotherapist, Amanda Savage, has created tailored treatment options for pelvic pain, specifically those suffering with tightness and endometriosis, using your Kegel8 Ultra 20. This condition guide utilises a unique combination of programmes and is segmented into 3 areas: relaxation, pain relief and awareness. The aim is to relax the muscles and bring more blood flow to the area, then target the pain relief, and finally enable the user to find and feel their pelvic floor muscles. The first two sections specify the programmes that should be used, and the final section details an 8-week exercise plan. Developed to improve strength and tone in the muscles so that they can support the bladder and bowel without experiencing pain, discomfort or tiring easily, it also encourages the muscles to relax. It is also shown to increase awareness of both contracting and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles and activate helpful chemical reactions in the brain to reduce pain.
