Regaining Strength: Dr. Louise Wiseman’s Kegel8 Success After Caesarean

Read Dr. Louise Wiseman’s Story: Medical Merits of Kegel8 Pelvic Floor Toners

After my second emergency caesarean, I found myself dealing with unexpected pelvic floor issues, partly due to lifting too much too soon. As a doctor, I knew the importance of addressing this right away to avoid further complications, and using a Kegel8 Toner made an incredible difference. Within a few weeks, I was back to my regular exercise routine and feeling more like myself.

Understanding the Pelvic Floor: Essential for Every Woman

Women’s bodies are complex—our pelvis houses a variety of organs, like the bladder, womb, ovaries, and intestines, all supported by the pelvic floor muscles. Through life stages like pregnancy, childbirth, and hormonal changes, the pelvic floor endures significant stress, which can lead to problems like incontinence, prolapse, and that dreaded “dragging” sensation when things feel out of place.

Why Pelvic Floor Exercises Matter

Most of us ignore pelvic floor exercises until symptoms appear—like a leak of urine when sneezing, or an urgent need to rush to the bathroom. This can feel isolating, but it’s more common than we realise. Visiting your GP can help rule out infections or other issues, and often, they’ll recommend pelvic floor exercises to improve your muscle strength.

Kegel8: A Trusted Solution

If you’re cleared by your doctor and don’t have contraindications, such as recent surgery or a pacemaker, I can’t recommend the Kegel8 Ultra 20 highly enough. This device offers multiple probes and programmes tailored for different needs, from incontinence to prolapse and postnatal recovery. Even if you’re not comfortable using an internal probe, Kegel8 provides external electrode pads that can be placed on the back, similar to a TENS machine used in labour.

When I first started with Kegel8, I used it while resting on my bed, following the guidance to find the right frequency and programme. The flexibility of using it at home was ideal, and in a few weeks, I could feel the difference.

For All Women, at Every Stage

Kegel8 is for all women—whether you’re dealing with postpartum recovery, incontinence, or simply want to improve your pelvic health. The website is filled with testimonials from women who’ve regained control and confidence, many mentioning improvements in intimate health, bladder control, and overall quality of life.

As a doctor, I believe we need to start this conversation with our daughters, friends, and patients. Pelvic health awareness can help reduce the need for surgery and give women the tools to prevent these issues early on. Using a Kegel8 toner regularly at the beginning and then for maintenance can make all the difference.

"It upsets me as a doctor when women don’t have access to what can help."

What truly concerns me is how many women are unaware of options like Kegel8. That’s why I’m currently writing a book, Your Best Life: A Doctor’s Secret Guide To Radiant Health Over 40, to empower women with practical health knowledge. Prevention is key, and Kegel8 gives women control and confidence over their symptoms. Just remember, this advice never replaces speaking directly with your own doctor.
