Vaginal Tightening: How To Tighten Vagina Walls Naturally

Throughout our lives, our bodies change – it’s just part and parcel of the natural ageing process. However, there are some changes that we’re completely unprepared for that we can’t hide. These can seriously impact our confidence levels and emotional wellbeing and even creep into our love lives and other relationships.

Luckily, if you’ve noticed yourself feeling a little ‘looser’ than usual down there, simple exercises can alleviate these feelings and help to tighten your vagina in your own home.

How Sex Changes with Age

Something you may not have bargained for with ageing is a somewhat ‘looser’ downstairs department.  This ‘looseness’ and lack of muscle strength can lead to reduced sensations for both a woman, and her partner, during the most intimate of moments.  Without this strength and ‘squeeze-ability’, achieving an orgasm at all may be impossible.
The importance of sex in a relationship should never be underestimated.  It allows a couple to connect on a deeper and more intimate level; both physically and emotionally.  Eliminating this from the equation will undoubtedly put a great deal of pressure and strain on any couple.  Vaginal ‘looseness’ should never be viewed as simply another by-product of age.  There’s no way of hiding it, but there are certainly ways to treat it.

What Causes Vaginal Looseness?
Vaginal looseness happens when there’s immense stress placed on the vaginal walls causing the vaginal canal to lose some of its natural elasticity. The primary causes of vaginal looseness are:

  • Age
    • As our bodies age, the decrease in oestrogen production means the vagina becomes naturally less elastic and constricts.
  • Menopause
    • with the peri-menopause phase – the 5–10-year gradual change in hormones before menopause begins – and the menopause itself, you’ll find your pelvic floor needs some extra attention. The abrupt change in hormones can weaken the pelvic floor and the vaginal canal while causing additional symptoms like bladder and bowel control issues.
  • Pregnancy and Childbirth
    • When you’re pregnant and giving birth, your body is pushed to its limit to accommodate a growing child. During childbirth, the muscles along the vaginal canal expand to make room for the baby. This, unsurprisingly, weakens the walls and results in a ‘looser’ vagina.

What is vaginal tightening good for?
Understanding how to tighten vaginal walls is extremely important because of the range of health benefits it brings. Vaginal tightening can help prevent battle stress incontinence and even help reduce the number of infections from things like bacterial vaginosis. Treatments for vaginal tightening may also help renew your sex life. Working on your pelvic floor and incorporating additional treatments into your regime can help limit vaginal atrophy – where the vaginal walls become dry and irritated – improve lubrication and increase sexual pleasure.

How to tighten vaginal walls
The feeling of a loose vagina causes many physical and psychological problems. Reduced self-confidence and sexual pleasure and decreased bladder and bowel control can all result from vaginal weakness. Luckily, there are exercises and programs you can follow to alleviate many of these symptoms and practice vaginal tightening in the comfort of your own home. The most effective exercises to tackle vaginal weakness and tighten your vagina are those that focus on your pelvic floor. For noticeable results, follow these simple steps:

  • Lie down with your knees slightly apart. If it’s more comfortable for you, try standing up or sitting in an upright position.
  • Gently tense your pelvic floor muscles. If you’re having trouble locating them, imagine you’re trying to stop yourself from passing wind – you should feel the muscles contracting around the anus.
  • Once you’ve done this, tense around your vagina – this should feel like you’re trying to stop a wee.
  • Squeeze both areas at the same time. The sensation should feel like you’re squeezing muscles towards your belly button.
  • Hold for five seconds.
  • Relax for five seconds.
  • Repeat this cycle five times. Don’t worry if you can’t do it five times – you’ll gradually build the pelvic strength over time.

Cosmetic surgery
It’s become increasingly common for women to opt for the quick fix and go under the knife to regain their pre-childbirth vaginal tightness. However, scientists and clinicians still debate the efficacy of surgical treatments because of the potential risks. The internet is also full of ‘vaginal rejuvenation’ DIY remedies – like using vinegar and toothpaste to tighten your vagina. If you’re unsure about home remedies or internet advice, speak to your doctor and clinician, who are best placed to advise on the most effective treatment for you.

Non-Surgical Vaginal Tightening
The Kegel8 Ultra 20 Electronic Pelvic Toner strengthens your pelvic floor in just 12 weeks. The range of 20 clinically-proven programmes is designed alongside physiotherapists to build, tighten and tone all those muscles – including the fast and slow-twitch muscle fibres. Although equipment-free pelvic floor exercises can be performed to help you achieve the desired results, it is reported that over 50% of women don’t understand how to perform an effective pelvic floor muscle contraction. With the Kegel8 Ultra 20 Electronic Pelvic Toner, you can take the guesswork out of your training, with built-in prompts designed to help you visualise your muscles contracting and relaxing, guiding you through an effective workout. With clinically approved results in just 12 weeks.

So why opt to use an electronic device rather than performing the exercises yourself?
Well, it is thought that many women push downwards during independent pelvic floor exercises, which, rather than strengthening the muscles, can lead to further damage. In addition, it can be difficult to locate and target the correct muscles, making exercise less effective. The Kegel8 Ultra 20 V2 Electronic Pelvic Floor Toner can be used to both exercise the pelvic floor muscles (to help them grow thicker and stronger) and bring more blood flow to the area to improve nerve sensitivity and general awareness. Removing the guesswork and essentially acting as a Sat-Nav for your pelvic floor muscles, it correctly targets and stimulates them, building them bigger and stronger. This rebuilds strength and tone in a matter of weeks! With 20 clinically proven pelvic floor exercise programmes which vary in frequency, intensity and duration, the Ultra 20 is proven to treat a variety of different conditions, including vaginal looseness and a lack of intimate sensation. And, in addition to tailored programmes, the specific 12-week exercise plans created by Amanda Savage advise exactly how the device should be used to depending upon your specific concern/condition.

Vaginal looseness and lack of vaginal sensation are usually closely linked. There aren’t many nerve endings inside the vagina and women feel “pressure” and “deep touch” more than light sensations. The sexual pleasure we experience comes from the rubbing and build-up of friction against the vaginal walls, which are layered with the pelvic floor muscles at the base and sides. These muscles need to have good tone and firmness to make the space feel tight and close to your partner, to activate the pleasure nerve endings and for you to be able to grip your partner (for more pleasure for both of you).

Our muscles will undoubtedly lose strength and firmness as we age, and it is not unusual to experience a lack of intimate sensation as a result. In addition, during the menopause, our bodies experience a significant drop in oestrogen levels, which can cause the vaginal lining to become drier and less elastic. However, it is possible to rebuild this strength/tone with regular pelvic floor exercise and regain that intimacy/closeness with our partners. Indeed, regular pelvic floor exercise will strengthen, tighten, and tone the muscles, as well as increase blood flow to the area, for increased vaginal sensation.

The included easy exercise guide has been created by Amanda Savage to strengthen and build the pelvic floor muscles that support the vagina walls for increased intimate sensation. The routine alternates between settings, first using a programme to make the muscle fibres repeatedly contract and release to encourage the muscle fibres to grow. On another setting there is no contraction of the muscles, but the stimulation triggers nerve activity and increased blood flow - this is a good time to relax and “tune in” to the sensations that you can receive from the vagina area and become more body aware again.
