What is a vaginal dilator?
A vaginal dilator is an instrument used to gently stretch the vagina, used when the vagina has become narrowed or if you are experiencing discomfort and pain during sex or penetration.
Choosing the right vaginal dilator will ensure that your dilator therapy is effective, trouble-free and you get great results so you can get on with living your life. No one wants to have to use a dilator, but when you need to, choose the very best in safety, comfort and dependability with Kegel8.
How are Kegel8 vaginal dilators different?
Kegel8 has taken hundreds of customer reviews from over 20 years of dilator sales to ensure you can benefit from the latest advances in vaginal dilator therapy treatment. We chose soft, but 'firm-enough' body-safe silicone because hard plastic dilators are pretty unforgiving to a recovering or fragile vagina.
Clinical evidence shows hard plastic dilators should not be used in some conditions for fear of damage resulting in vaginal fistula. By creating our dilator therapy set in soft, but firm, silicone you'll get the most comfortable dilator treatment.
How to use vaginal dilators
For full information on how to safely and comfortably use our vaginal dilators, please check the ‘Instructions for use’ pamphlet in the Downloads section – here are the brief recommendations for how to use our vaginal dilators.
- To use our vaginal dilators, find a comfortable position, preferably reclining, with knees slightly apart.
- Start with the smallest dilator. Fill the well with a dilator gel or lubricant like Kegel8 Dilator Gel to help evenly distribute the lubricant through your vaginal canal.
3. Gently insert the dilator into your vagina to a point where you’re comfortable – don’t force anything. Once comfortable, move it side to side for 5-10 minutes.
4. Once you can insert the dilator so that the base is flush with your vagina opening without discomfort, progress to the next size. This will retrain the muscles, gently stretching and keeping open the vaginal canal.
5. Use the dilator for 5-20 minutes, 5-6 days per week, gradually increasing the size.
6. Clean the dilator after each use with antibacterial cleaning spray or mild soap and warm water, and allow it to dry completely before the next use.
Are vaginal dilators wearable?
Yes! We know that your dilator therapy may need to fit around the needs of a busy family. With our set of graduated dilators, you can multitask while remaining comfortable, allowing your body to relax and accept the treatment easily.
With our comfortable wearable dilators, you can discretely perform dilator therapy, fully clothed if necessary. It also means that if you want to sit on the dilator, it’s comfortable, and safe, working with your body to ensure great results. It is suggested that our silicone dilators deliver faster results and offer a better outcome than traditional dilators.
