What our customers say about the Ultra 20 v2

Having had two repairs each for prolapsed bladder and bowel, the last two just over a year ago, I was devastated to find I had another small bladder prolapse. Surgeon has suggested further surgery. I had previously purchased a similar product to Kegel 8 some years ago and felt it didn't make any difference, although I did use regularly. Took the plunge and bought the ultra plus a couple of weeks ago. Within days of using I can feel the difference. No longer do I have vaginal noise and a feeling of fullness and dragging. Better still I no longer have to use pads "just in case". I have been referred to a continence nurse in preparation for surgery to ensure that I know how to do my pelvic floor exercises. I have deferred the appointment, because I have confidence that if used regularly the ultra plus will work. My husband has already commented that there is a marked difference - if it can do that in two weeks then I am looking forward to the three month results!! ...

I was nervous about two things: spending a lot of money on something I'd only seen on the internet, not heard of from a 'real' person - and also nervous about using something internally as I freak out during smear tests as they are so painful - I get vaginismus (also during sexual intercourse). Nevertheless I went ahead because I saw my middle age incontinence just getting worse and worse. I'm so delighted with this product - I use it twice daily on programme 3 for urge incontinence and can relax and listen to my favourite radio programmes whilst using it. I get to my front door, get the key in the door and can just about hold it in now without leaking only after two weeks of use at 30 to 40 MA. I long for the day when I may be able to do without pads and if things keep improving at the same rate I believe this day will come. At first I found the sensation rather strange but I've come to associate such positive results that I now enjoy using the machine.

I wonder why I took so long for me to do something about the problem I had with leaking. It had got to the stage that even going downstairs I would leak and when the lift at work broke I was goind down 3 flights of stairs and I could feel the leaks onvirtually every one. My sex life was non existant - we'll the occasional fumble, but I hadnt had an orgasm through sex for ages. I did some background research and my sister in law sore by her kegel8 so much so that I decided to try it. I havent got a prolapse like she has thankfully, but I know that something was not right. She wouldnt let me borrow hers (I would have bought a new probe) but I can understand that, she said it was such a lifeline that she didn't want to be without it (she has a stage 2 cystercele I think its called). I am 4 weeks into using this and I haven't leaked at all today so I want to dispense with the fuc**ng horribly panty pads that I had come to rely on over the last few years. I am almost ashamed ...

It is early days but I am extremely positive that I will continue to see results as I feel a slight improvement already. I am 64, I don't suffer from a weak bladder, I have not been to the doctor but I do feel a bulge and can only think this would get worse as time goes on. The bulge makes me feel down and I can't function properly as it is constantly on my mind. I have been doing exercises for the past 6 months but wish I had bought the Kegel8 Ultra 20 sooner.

I knew I needed something to tighten me up, but I hadn't realised that there was something like this available! Quite honestly it is amazing, Hubby thinks it is wonderful and when I had a 2 week break recently he noticed straight away, it is that effective! Yes you do have to use it regularly, but for someone like me who goes to the gym, walks the dog, it just becomes part of my routine. I now use it 2/3 times a week. I don't have any leaks or mishaps, and my love-life is better than it has been for a decade. I tell all my friends, some have bought, some are embarrassed that I am talking so candidly about my problem/solution. These should be available on the NHS, simple as that! My sister bought one, she has a prolapse and is facing surgery, but she hopes with regular use she can stop it getting worse and hopefully avoid the knife! Can I also say that for the first time in my life I can have multiple orgasms – now if that’s not a healthy “side effect” I don’t know what is!...

Amazing machine, will continue to use, delighted with results
    Review by Mrs VG
Very helpful and a great machine. I have already noticed a considerable difference and I am delighted with the results. I have not had an 'accident' now for over 2 weeks and I hope that my improvement will continue.
I suffered a bladder prolapse after the birth of my second son and I had ignored the leaks, however I couldn't ignore when I found that I was also soiling too. I was quietly horrified.
Amazing machine, will continue to use, delighted with results. Very helpful information and customer service excellent.

    Review by Caroj
I used this for 5 months then found that it was not working consistently. Up until then it seemed to be helping but I was about to return it when I was diagnosed with a very serious illness and could not use it. I packed it away, and tried to use it again 9 months later. It would not go above 10 so I contacted Kegel. I was told that I need a new probe- that will be another £15 please. Not very impressed.

Kegel8 Reply: Hello, thank you for your review I am pleased that the Kegel8 seems to be working for you. I'm sorry to hear that you have been having problem with your Kegel8 Ultra. The probes are a part that does need replacing every 6-9 months depending on usage, and from what you say that the mA won't go above 10 this does seem to be the problem. By purchasing a new probe it means you can be sure you are thoroughly exercising and strengthening your pelvic floor to improve on the already good results you have noticed. Best wishes, Heather@Kegel8

    Excellent Product and Excellent Service
    Review by Milly
Ordering was very straightforward and delivery was prompt. The product is well packaged and the instruction book is very comprehensive. The unit seems very robust and is extremely easy to use, surprising comfortable, and quick & easy to clean. There is a good range of programmes for everyone, all with plenty of advice on how to plan a regime to suit your own personal requirements. I wish I had bought it sooner but I didn't realise it existed. It is quite expensive and to start, it is a daily commitment over several weeks but, it is also a lifeline if you are suffering with embarrassing and distressing symptoms.

    Perseverance needed.
    Review by Tina
Having just received the Kegel8 I can't rave about my experience at present but after reading the instructions (several times) just to get all the ways of use and programmes sorted that I might need, I feel that I'm at least addressing my old problem now. I did use a manual device for some time and it worked but was hard work and fiddley! Finding the time to be consistent is the hardest bit, but the Kegel8 is much simpler and certainly easier than making long trips to a hospital twice a week for months on end.
So once you've got to grips with the feel of it and how it's supposed to respond etc., and you find the programme/s that suits, I would say persevere if you've spent the money on one of these as I can testify this is the exact same treatment I received at hospital several years ago although connected up to a computer so as the effects could be monitored. I was so surprised when I opened it and realised it was the same "professional" device I'd used in the hospital because I know it worked then. So for those of you who are a bit sceptical, not fit, or who haven't kept up with manual pelvic floor exercises, it really will have an effect eventually whether in the short or long term depending on your needs.
Age is no barrier either, I am not a young mum anymore and have got lazy about exercise in general, but the pelvic floor can be toned like any other muscle so do not give up in this area because the benefits are worth it..
I am just delighted to be able to do this in my own time and place and know that it will have such positive effects.
So take the advice of Sister in maternity after I had given birth when we all asked how long should we continue doing the pelvic floor exercises they taught us and recommended we do. "Never give up doing your pelvic floor exercises, do them all your life!" Well girls, get Kegeling whether you're 18 or 80!

    Quality in Question
    Review by Semi-satisfied customer
I bought the Kegel8 Ultra pelvic floor excerciser two and half years ago and was getting on fine with it through regular use.

However, it has recently completely given up the ghost. It still has a display but, despite new batteries, the MA will not go above 10 without cutting out, rendering it useless.

£150 for 30 months of use makes this product far less attractive as a solution to pelvic floor exercising.

Dear Customer - please contact us directly, you did not leave us an e mail address. Your unit is not faulty it is either the lead-wire or probe in question if you are unable to get the mAs above 10. Please contact customer services who can help you further - your Kegel8 will last you years - but the probe or lead-wire may need replacing every 12 - 18 months.

    Great Product
    Review by Littlelight
I'm 53 and bought this product because I felt my 'undercarriage' was flapping like the landing gear on an aeroplane. I could feel friction in my gusset every time I bent over or sat down, very uncomfortable and very depressing. I bought the Ultra/vitality model because I felt it offered the best scope at the best price for all round improvement.
I've been using the Kegel8 for about 2 months, it arrived just before we were due to go on an exotic holiday so I was keen to get started with it. It was a bit of a disaster. I was over keen, I didn't read the instructions properly and ended up with cystitis from the stress of it. After reading the instructions I realized I had to wash the probe *before* AND after use, I had only washed *after* although I had used the sterilizing spray but it wasn't enough. I'm quite sensitive I have fybromyalgia and Crohns so my body reacts badly when I feel uncomfortable. I'm not a prude, I have a good sex life but I wasn't comfortable with the whole idea of using the Kegel8. I don't do sex toys, I don't like the idea of them so although I'm looking for improvement, I didn't share other responders *excitement* about the bonus benefits of using the *vitality* programme. That said, I'm very happy to report that using the Kegel *has* significantly improved my sex life. I feel tighter, have more sensation and don't feel so worried all of the time about aging and incontinence. My partner has noticed the difference too.
I started using the Kegel8 solely on programme 9 for general, over all improvement. I noticed an improvement in tightness almost straight away. I only used the stick attachment thing that indicates if you're probe's positioned correctly once, it looked stupid and made me feel embarrassed so I stopped using it and seem to manage fine without it. I used the unit every 3 or 4 days for a couple of weeks and noticed that it was improving my stomach muscles too, making my stomach look and feel flatter. I'm not sure how long lasting the effects of the Kegel8 are, I've noticed like others that I seemed to *drop* a few days after use if I don't keep up with the treatments and if I kept using the same programme so I now use it once or twice a week and change the programme every time. This works well for me. I'm so glad I persevered with the Kegel8, I feel much more confident, sexier and happier.
I also bought an anal probe which I felt would help with balance, I didn't want to tone the front and not the back however, I have problems with colitis and have recently been prescribed Pentasa anal pessaries. I've found it quite difficult to stick stuff up my bum and I'm worried about aggravating the inflammation so I haven't tried it yet, if I do I will do a review or if anybody in a similar situation has any advice, I'd like to hear how they got on or if they have any tips or advice on using the anal probe.

It is early days, but, have already felt an improvement in my pelvic floor in that I can pull up my muscles and hold them for longer than I ever could before. I had become very lazy with my exercises and this is a great way to ensure they get done. I don't have any serious problems, but, have had three children and felt that I could benefit from extra control in that region.

    Unhappy with the probe!
    Review by Emily-Jayne
Knowing I have a nickel allergy this seemed like the perfect product for me. However since I received my Kegel8 I have literally only used it 3 times because despite the gold-plating I still have an allergic reaction. Tried using it with a condom over the probe but the machine doesn't work. Not happy. Why are the electrodes not made from Titanium or something? Very disappointed and unsure what to do as regular pelvic floor exercises don't seem to work since I had our Daughter.

    .......................................

    Hi Emily-Jayne

Sorry to hear you've had a reaaction to the Gold probe, this isn't something we've heard of before as usually the gold-plating completely prevents any allergic reaction. Some women when first using the device find that their muscles feel tired or achey - just the same as your legs may get achey after a jog if you haven't exercised for a while. Sometimes this achey or sore feeling can be misconstrued as an allergic reaction when actually it is a case of tired muscles. Perhaps take a few days off from exercising before trying the device again? Also, make sure that you are not overworking your muscles; don't take the MAs up too high - you should feel a good strong pull but not so that it is uncomfortable, and if you do feel achey after using the device try not taking the MAs quite so high the next time you use it.

If you've tried using the device again and you still think it's an allergic reaction perhaps you could try different kind of nickel-free probe. The Perisize is one of our most popular ones (please note this cannot be used with prolapse). If you'd like to give our Customer Services line a call we'd be happy to arrange for you to try another probe; we'd like to do everything we can to get you exercising!

We are looking into different options for electrodes materials so thankyou for your suggestion. We're continuously researching and developing our products so all feedback such as yours is brilliant for helping us to improve. Do give our Customer Service team a call so we can help you to start using your Ultra 20 and get your pelvic floor back into shape.

    Post operative needs more patience
    Review by Aileen
I had surgery (not mesh thank goodness) but less than a year later the prolapse was back. Decided to risk looking silly and losing my money by buying this product while awaiting a physio appointment. I had only had it for three days when my appointment came up. My physiotherapist was very supportive and even gave me a different probe and set up a programme on it tailored for my muscle strength. Three months later and I can feel muscles I had forgotten I had. How I wish I had tried this before surgery. In my experience, it takes much longer to see real improvement when you have had repair surgery but it is well worth persevering. My advice would be not to make the same mistakes I did, don't wait until things are really bad. If I had my time again I would buy and yes one of these just before menopause.

    Frequently asked questions

Can a Kegel8 Ultra 20 fix my prolapse?

Prolapse is devastating.  The first thing any woman should do is to start doing effective pelvic floor exercises, this is to manage the prolapse, stop it getting worse or dropping down further out of position. E-stim improves the health of the pelvic floor tissues and seems to be effective in counteracting muscle atrophy. Top UK Physio, Amanda Savage has devised a comprehensive 12-week programme for prolapse to build muscle tone to make a thicker support shelf when you are lifting and carrying things.

What’s the difference between this device and me doing the exercises on my own?

Lots – 30% of women do their Kegel exercises incorrectly; some push downwards, which, rather than strengthening can lead to further damage. Featuring a patented ‘Kegel smile’ screen, timed programmes and an internal probe which finds and treats the muscles, this e-stim device is a revolution for your pelvic floor. It automatically exercises the right muscles no matter how weak they are, for the correct length of time. Every time.

I’m just not that technical and yet it feels a bit overwhelming? Is it me?

For 20 years, Kegel8 has pioneered effective ways to treat pelvic floor problems at home. With 12-week programmes, it’s pre-set and ready to go, automatically exercising the correct muscles for 9 different pelvic floor conditions.  The patented screen shows when your muscles contract and relax (work and rest) helping to re-sync your brain and pelvic floor for proven clinical results.

It might sound technical – it is a registered medical device, after all.  But technical ability is not needed - all you need to do is use it, and that is EASY!

My bladder is ruling my life, can this help me.

Absolutely. Do you also restrict the amount of liquids you drink; wear pads for leaks and have frequent changes of clothes too?

So many Kegel8 users will say ‘I wish I had found this sooner!’ They have put up with, in some cases for years - leaks, accidents and embarrassment. Don’t just ‘put up with it’ because 1 in 10 women suffering leaks will go onto have bowel leaks too. Regaining control is so empowering, Kegel8 is with you every step of the way.

I bought another pelvic device, and it didn’t work, why is this one different?

We understand, and for 20 years we have taken the guesswork out of home treatment and learned a thing or two. We like to think we do a great job because we offer a no-quibble 90-day Money Back Guarantee. So, if you’re not stronger, we’ve not done our job!

We also offer a £50 Trade in Service – with £50 off a Kegel8 Ultra 20 v2 – so come to Kegel8 and get strong NOW!

    I had vaginal mesh surgery - can use Kegel8 Ultra 20 V2?

Yes! The Kegel8 Ultra 20 V2 can be used if you have vaginal mesh surgery or mesh for prolapse. Even after surgery, pelvic floor muscles will still need to be exercised and strengthened to prevent other pelvic organs from prolapsing. E-stim improves the health of the pelvic floor tissues and seems to be effective in counteracting muscle atrophy and muscle dysfunction. This is a Class 2a medical device made here in the UK. E-stim is clinically proven to work and it automatically locates and exercises the right muscles for the optimum length of time, without over exercising them.
